What is the best time to list my boat for sale?
Generally, the spring (March-May) sees the highest demand for listings in preparation for the summer boating season. However, serious buyers are active year-round. We work with clients through the fall and winter off-season to prep and list their boats, often resulting in a quicker close once spring demand surges. Contact us for a personalized market analysis.

Why is the company called 41North Yacht Brokerage?
41North is the 41st parallel of latitude, a significant line that runs through our core service areas, including much of New England and major US boating markets like the Great Lakes region (e.g., Chicago). Our name reflects our reach: a strong base in New England, and a network that extends along this parallel and beyond, connecting buyers and sellers across the country.
-
What are the costs for selling a boat with 41North?
Our brokerage fee is a competitive 8% of the final selling price. We charge a $200 (up-front) Marketing and Service fee. This covers professional marketing, paid listings, managing showings, handling negotiations, and preparing all closing documents. Once the boat is successfully sold, the fee will be credited back to the seller.
-
What types of boats and yachts do you specialize in?
We have extensive experience with a wide range of vessels. Our primary focus is on powerboats, cruisers, and sailing yachts. We pride ourselves on accurately valuing and effectively marketing various sizes and styles, from day boats to offshore cruisers. Review our current listings to see the diverse inventory we represent.
-
How long does it take to sell a boat?
The time to sale can vary based on market conditions, the boat's price, and its condition. On average, most of our well-priced and well-maintained listings sell within 1 to 3 months. We aim to optimize your listing for the fastest possible sale by providing accurate valuation and maximum exposure from day one.
-
Do I need a survey or haul-out before listing my boat?
While not mandatory, we often recommend an updated pre-listing survey, especially for older or high-value boats. It can proactively address minor issues, instill confidence in potential buyers, and help us set the most accurate list price. We can coordinate the most efficient way to handle showings, surveys, and sea trials for you.
